Lightning Ranch was founded 1993 by Stan and Carol Jensen.  Lightning Ranch is 170 acres of heavily treed (1000's of oaks and elms) pasture land at the Eastern edge of the Texas Hill Country, just north of Austin Texas.

 

Stan and Carol, along with their local ranching neighbors, the Griffins and Coffins, were among the first to import Boer goats to the US from New Zealand.  Because of very high interest and demand, the Boer goat endeavor quickly evolved to a massive breeding program through embryo harvest and transfer to hundreds of Angora goats yielding multi hundreds of pure bred Boer goat kids in the first two years.

 

The Jensen's continue to raise Boer goats, though in a  more natural process.  Boer goats are beautiful and freindly animals.
